Purpose, as its page states it
The Design Advisory Board (DAB) ensures that new development projects are well-designed and align with the surrounding area's character or established city design guidelines. This five-member board, appointed by City Council, is composed of Boulder residents. At least two members must be design professionals (such as architects or urban designers), while the remaining three may come from any background. DAB reviews exterior construction projects in Downtown Boulder’s Non-Historic and Interface Areas when the project’s value exceeds $25,000. However, projects involving historic or potentially historic properties are reviewed by the Landmarks Board instead. Upon request from the City Manager, Planning Board, or City Council, DAB may also evaluate projects outside of Downtown to ensure they comply with adopted design guidelines, area plans, or relevant building design criteria (see the 9-2-14 Site Review, linked in the Resources section above, for more details). For projects that fall under DAB’s jurisdiction, a design review is mandatory. The property owner, developer, or their representative is responsible for coordinating with Planning and Development Services to schedule the review.
